You may know that last weekend, a national team selection camp was conducted in Fuji, with as many as 28 players turning up to try out. As the Head Selector of the Japan Men's National Team, I'm pleased to announce the squad for the up-coming 6-team tournament in Auckland, New Zealand from November 29 to December 9, featuring Japan, Indonesia, Tonga, Samoa, Vanuatu, and the Cook Islands.

# Shinagawa - Meet at Shinagawa Station East Exit (via Central Gate)
# Nishi-Koyama - Take either the Meguro Line or the Mita or Namboku Subways to NISHI-KOYAMA Station. After exiting the only ticket gate at the station turn left. Next, take your first left and then take your first right. Finally, straight up the guts along the cherry tree lined road for 7 mins.

Goi - Meet on platform 13 (usually) of Shinagawa Station for a train heading out Chiba way.

HARDYS Man of the Match

We are proud to have HARDYS sponsor our Man Of The Match awards again in 2008. A bottle of HARDYS wine will be awarded to the best player on ground for all Wombats league games. Bottles will also be awarded for the 'Play of the Day' and for the opposition 'Player of the Match'.

Ian 'Curly' Gason's fiery 4 wicket spell kick-started the Tokyo Wombats to victory for the first time ever against the YCAC and also earned him this week's Hardys' Man of the Match!

20-April-2008 vs Japan (Practice Match)
Wicket keeper Jarrad Shearer's bucket hands grabbed 3 catches v Japan and a Hardys' Man Of The Match. Oh yeah, and he scored an unbeaten century!

30-March-2008 vs Toyama C.C. (Friendly)
Grant 'GT' Turner turns it on in his first appearance for the Tokyo Wombats with 33 runs and 2/28 with the ball to take out this week's Hardys' Man of the Match!

23-March-2008 vs Kytes (Friendly)
Paul 'Shax' Shackleford's figures of 3/24 earns him the first Hardys' Man of the Match for 2008!

04-November-2007 vs Kytes (Pacific Cup)
Ian 'Curly' Gason bowled a jaffer with his first ball to clean bowl the Kytes' opening batsmen! The TWCC 'across-the-seam' bowler never looked back, going on to record figures of 4-19 from 8 overs! The teetotalling bus driver had no option but to hand over his bottle of Hardys' to his wine-guzzling wife!

13-October-2007 vs IECC (Pacific Cup)
Luke Ray got the Tokyo Wombats off to a perfect start against the Indian Engineers with two vital wickets to take out this week's Hardys' Man of the Match!

6-October-2007 vs BECC (Ashes)
Hardys' M.o.M in the Hardys' Tokyo Ashes goes to Pup for a gem of an innings at the top of the Wombats batting order - his 86 off 63 balls well worth another bottle of Hardys' plonk!

9-September-2007 vs Wyverns (J1C GF)
Bish's 65 runs off 47 balls and 1/20 off 8 in our Grand Final victory over the Wyverns yet again demonstrated his talent and class....and yet again won him a HARDYS MoM award. Well done Bish.


2-September-2007 vs Sharks (J1C Semi)
Curly's tight opening spell of 8 overs for just 14 runs set the Wombats on course for a semi final victory and earned our van driver a bottle of HARDYS finest....but who will drink it??


18-August-2007 vs Millenium (J1C)
Rhino's smashing 39 (including 21 off the 39th over) was the difference between us getting 160 and the 188 we got and led us to our first victory over Millenium. In a day of "firsts", it was also the Rhinosaur's first HARDYS MoM award.


29-July-2007 vs Fuji Far East (J1C)
Bish's spin bowling lesson bordered on batsman cruelty such was the web he spun over the Fuji Far East batters. It lead the way to a comfortable Wombats victory and saw him picking up his first bottle of HARDYS. I dare say it won't be his last.


22-July-2007 vs YCAC (Friendly)
Pup's first two overs earnt him 0/19. His next five overs earnt him 6/2 and a bottle of HARDYS finest. Well done Pup.


08-July-2007 vs Dragons (Friendly)
Morty again proved himself as one of the finds of the season for the Wombats with another fine all-round display (runs, wickets, catch) and earning himself more of HARDYS finest.


03-June-2007 vs British Embassy (J1C)
Curly's miserly spell of 2/5 off 8 overs was the catalyst for our first ever 10-wicket victory and earned him the HARDYS MoM award in the game against the British Embassy.


27-May-2007 vs KRAC (HARDYS Challenge)
Chasing 240, Dino's run a ball 73 anchored the innings as the Wombats chased down the target in 31 overs. Not only a win for the Wommies but a win for Dino - the HARDYS MoM award.


26-May-2007 vs KRAC (HARDYS Challenge)
Chuck's 68 off 50 balls (including 5 huge sixes) gave the Wommies a chance of victory chasing 260 against KRAC. It wasn't to be but the knock was certainly worthy of a HARDYS MoM award.


28-Apr-2007 vs Wyverns (J1C)
Pup's 4-wicket haul pulled the Wombats back into the game against the Wyverns and won the young fella the HARDYS MoM award.


15-Apr-2007 vs Ichihara Sharks (J1C)
Morty's fantastic allround display in his Wombats debut not only got us over the line against the Sharks but also earned him the HARDYS MoM award.


3-Dec-2006 vs IECC (Pacific Cup Final)
Reggie's 4 wicket haul on 'home' soil against IECC in the Pacific Cup final led the Wombats to victory and himself to the HARDYS MoM award.


29-Oct-2006 vs Ichihara Sharks (J1C GF)
There were many worthy winners but Burkey's knock of 90 runs saw him sneak away with the HARDYS MoM award in the Grand Final win over the Ichihara Sharks.


22-Oct-2006 vs British Embassy (J1C semi)
Dino's fantastic first century for the Wombats not only won his team a Grand Final berth but also earned him the HARDYS MoM award in the win over the British Embassy.


15-Oct-2006 vs Shizuoka Kytes (Pac Cup)
Killer's crucial 3 wicket spell set the Wombats up for victory and earned him the HARDYS MoM award in the match against the Kytes.


24-Sep-2006 vs Fuji Far East (J1C)
Chuck scored a magnificent century, his first for the Wombats, and in the process wrapped up a second consecutive HARDYS MoM award in the game against Fuji Far East.


16-Sep-2006 vs Millenium (J1C)
Captain Chuck played one of the finest Wombats innings in scoring 81 and was a deserving winner of the HARDYS MoM award in the game against Millenium.


30-Jul-2006 vs MAX (J1C)
Not content with making 35 runs batting down the order, Curly also took two top order wickets to take the HARDYS MoM award in the game against MAX


01-Jul-2006 vs KRAC (Domestic Tour)
A score of 69 not out in the Wombats win against KRAC was enough to earn Burkey the HARDYS MoM award on the Wombats tour.


10-Jun-2006 vs British (HARDYS Ashes)
Pup's 2 wickets for not many and 59 runs off just 30 balls earned him his first Hardys MoM award in the Hardys Ashes against the British...I dare say it won't be his last. Well done Pup.


30-Apr-2006 vs Wyverns
With the second best ever bowling figures in Wombats history (5/23), Chuck truly deserved this week's HARDYS MoM award.


23-Apr-2006 vs Shizuoka Kytes
Gez Brady's debut for the Wombats saw him pick up 3 wickets and the HARDYS MoM against the Kytes. Welcome Gez.


23-Oct-2005 vs Millenium (Grand final)
Regan Dawson's fiery 3 wicket spell put the Wombats in with a chance of victory and was good enough to earn him the HARDYS MoM in the Grand Final. Well done Reggie.


2-Oct-2005 vs IECC (semi final)
Skipper Chuck Jones had the midas touch in the field and played a wonderful Captain's knock of 86 not out to earn the HARDYS MoM in the semi-final win.


4-Sep-2005 vs Giants
Luke Ray goes back-to-back as his opening spell of 3 wickets against the Giants again earns him the HARDYS MoM. The BIG question: can he make it three-in-a-row?


13-Aug-2005 vs Japan Hopefuls
Luke Ray's gutsy effort with the bat and sterling opening spell with the ball was enough for him to get the nod and grab the HARDYS MoM against the Japan Hopefuls. Most improved player in 2005??

Captain Chuck's 82 runs in as many balls earned him the HARDYS MoM in the game against YCAC. Reckon it has probably been drunk already!


25-June-2005 vs British Embassy (Ashes)
A real all-round performance from the Dinosaur (31 runs, 4 wickets and 4 catches) sees him claiming the HARDYS MoM in the HARDYS Tokyo Ashes battle.


12-June-2005 vs Lions and Falcons
A fine all-round performance from Chunky in Game 1 vs the Lions and another sterling bowling effort from Shacks in Game 2 vs the Falcons earned them this week's HARDYS Man Of The Match awards.

Steve Burke plundered a new Club high score (105). Ian Gason re-wrote the bowling record (5/20). The jury couldn't split the two Vics, so have annointed them BOTH MOM.

Shacksy spun his way through the Lions' middle order to collect his best Wombat figures of 3-16. The Whyalla Warrior picked up this weeks MoM.

Capt Chuck smashed the boys around the ground for a quick 40 odd.

In a spectacular return to the side, Spacey turned the match around, with a concentrated spell of bowling that yielded 4 wickets. Hats off to ya Spacey.

Not content with 4 dismissals behind the stumps, Jarrad Shearer christened his new bat by beating his own Wombats' batting record with a match winning 95, Cheers, Grumpy!!


27-June-2004 vs Falcons
Superb solo effort - 1 c&b, 4 bowled sets a new best bowling for the Wombats. Chopping his way through The Falcons' batting, 'The Axe' finished with 5/24, and a Hardys' MoM.


6-June-2004 vs Sri Lankan
Burkey's quick 44 with a couple of fence slapping 6's was spectacular. Reckon he'll be up for another HARDYS' bottle before the end of the season.

With a strike-rate that'd shame Gilchrist, Little Richard Conway's match winning 45, on top of his tiger-like boundary fielding, earns him the Hardys' MOM.


3-May-2004 vs Ichihara
Club Prez Jarrad Shearer's 75 not out not only set a new Wombats batting record, not only out-scored Ichihara, but earned him the Hardys' MOM.


25-Apr-2004 vs Lalazar
